P2P Networking Apps Put You in the Driver’s Seat (or Cash in Your Pocket)

It’s probably safe to say most of us are familiar with peer-to-peer (P2P) giants AirBnB and Uber. They launched a revolution, smashed the old order to bits, and brought the bourgeois lifestyle to the masses. Chauffeur on demand? Grab an Uber. Want to stay overnight in a Manson? Book on AirBnB.

Disruption of the old order isn’t without its consequences. Many fight for the status quo, while revolutionaries like LUXnow, DriveShare, and Outdoorsyembrace this brave new world.

According to a study by PricewaterhouseCoopers, 43% of US consumers agree owning today feels like a burden. Inspired by the study, brothers Anthony and Gary Marotta founded LUXnow. The brothers notices a sizable void in the luxury rental market. Owners’ idle assets incurred expenses while would-be renters didn’t have a clear-cut path to easily obtain the luxuries they desired. LUXnow has tapped into the booming sharing economy and provides a solution to both of these problems.

Anthony Marotta says, “We recognized an opportunity in the market to provide consumers with a frictionless, on- demand luxury rental experience, while at the same time providing owners with a pipeline to securely and efficiently loan out their idle assets while generating passive income…”

Initially launched in South Florida, LUXnow’s portfolio is expanding beyond exotic cars like Bentley, Ferrari, and Lamborghini to include villas, yachts and private jets. (How about an entire island?) Expansion to New York is slated for fall 2017, with plans to activate Los Angeles, San Francisco and Las Vegas thereafter.

The Jaguar E-Type is a thing of beauty. Enzo Ferrari, who knows a thing or two about breathtakingly beautiful cars, reportedly said he thought it was the most beautiful car in the world. (If you’ve got the coin, Eagle Speedster will build you a ‘modern’ one.) I wouldn’t mind owning an original E-Type. I definitely like to experience driving one. And now I can.

Enter DriveShare by Hagerty. Hagerty recently acquired Classics&Exotics, the nation’s only P2P online marketplace for classic cars, and relaunched it as DriveShare by Hagerty. CEO McKeel Hagerty says, “DriveShare gives people an easy way to get behind the wheel of cars they’ve always wanted to drive.”

The app connects vintage and exotic car owners with pre-screened, highly qualified motorists seeking a unique driving experience or the perfect vehicle for weddings and other events. Every DriveShare rental includes up to $1 million in insurance protection and access to a comprehensive full-service roadside assistance program designed specifically for classic vehicles.

Head out on the highway, looking for adventure? Yeah, me too. I’ve long admired the futuristic yet classic and timeless design of the Airstream travel trailer. This too, I’d love to own. But ain’t nobody got time for that, right? Where am I going to store it? So, when wanderlust calls, navigate your way to Outdoorsy, the largest and most trusted P2P RV rental marketplace. The company doesn’t own a fleet of identical, anonymous RVs that have been beat on for over a million miles or more. Instead, they connect RV owners with folks who want to experience RVing without having to own one.

Already own an RV? Outdoorsy estimates you can earn as much as $86,000 a year from your otherwise idle RVs -and that’s not chump change! The company provides $1 million in liability insurance, instant DMV verification, and 24×7 roadside assistance.
